I’m an episode behind since we watch it online now, which really isn’t too bad. We hook up our macbook pro to the HD TV, not sacrificing too much in the way of picture quality either.
Anyway, I’ll say that I’m liking it. You can tell that they are trying to get it back to its roots, much like they did when they torched the Bar back in season 2. I do kind of hope they didn’t kill off Bobby though, I’ve really grown to like the character.
I was curious as to how we were going to resolve the whole, Castiel is the new God storyline. I can agree with others in the sense that I am glad that it got wrapped up in a couple episodes while transitioning seamlessly to the new big bad of the season. The Leviathans seems pretty hard core so I’m really interested to see where they take it. I can say, I really wasn’t much of a fan of the Monster Collectors last season so I’m glad we are getting back to what makes Supernatural great.
In last weeks episode we saw two of the Leviathans discussing the actions of some others. They hinted at a higher power over them and the need to remain hidden. This was very well done plot seeds. It wasn’t over the top, there was no shadow behind the curtain or anything cliché. Just a simple, “he wants it fixed.” It also makes you wonder, these things are so powerful, what has them so afraid.
That being said, I really am enjoying Sam’s plotline. It’s a really great way to explore someone who wants so much to be whole again at whatever the cost. I’m a big fan of Marc Pellegrino anyway and always thought he played the best Lucifer I have ever seen. He has that playful devilishness that I think people forget to include. Yeah the devil is “evil” but just because your evil doesn’t mean you’re doom and gloom all the time. The best, and most frightening, bad guys are the ones that take the time to laugh and play. Just look at the Joker.
I’m looking forward to what this season of Supernatural will come up with. How about you?
